Waverly girls second at McDaniel-Baxter Invitational

Waverly girls took second at the McDaniel-Baxter Invitational Saturday.

The Wolverines had five girls in the top 25 and finished with a team total of 68 points. Maine-Endwell won with 41 while Athens (164) took seventh.

Wildcat Emily Arnold (18:31) was ninth, the only local in the top 10.

For Waverly, Brandi Welch (19:02) was 13th, Elizabeth Fritzen (19:11) was 16th, Sidney Tomasso (19:21) was 18th, Reagan Vaughn (19:47) was 22nd and Olivia Nittinger (19:56) took 23rd.

Also for Athens, Caitlyn Powell (21:21) was 42nd, Selkie Bishop (21:35) was 47th, Isabelle Menard (23:46) was 57th and Carlie Simpson (26:01) was 68th.

Towanda also had runners, but not enough for a team.

Cheyenne Brown (20:33) was 33rd, Mya Miller (21:23) was 42nd, Emily Carr (25:28) was 66th and Mikenna Shaffer (29:46) was 77th.

On the boys' side, Waverly (280) was the top local team in 10th while Athens (304) was 12th and Towanda (369) was 18th. East Meadow (50) won the title.

Waverly's Collin Wright (15:07) was eighth with Athens' Nate Aquilio (15:43) and Towanda's Kaigan Stroop (15:44) also in the top 25 at 21st and 22nd.

Also for Waverly, Dylan Ward (16:14) was 42nd, Kaden Wheeler (17:09) was 64th, Jayden Rose (17:41) was 83rd and Brandon Bubniak (17:55) was 89th.

For Athens, T.J. Toscano (16:24) was 46th, Tivon Liguori (17:23) was 73rd, Sean Waltman (17:37) was 82nd and Mason Henderson (17:54) was 88th.

And for the Knights, Chase Dibble (17:16) was 68th, Eric Lauber (18:04) was 95th, Zachary Johnson (18:10) was 97th and Jacob Simmons (18:14) was 98th.

In modified boys' action, Waverly (139) was fourth and Athens (196) took eighth.

Waverly's Nate Ackley (7:34) was third while Athens' Nate Quinn (8:13) was also in the top 20 at 19th.

On the girls' side, Towanda (130) was sixth.

Athens' Karlee Bartlow (9:09) was third with teammate Emma Bronson (9:27) eighth.

Wildcat Abby Prickitt (9:31) was 12th with Waverly's Michaela Clymer (9:40) in 16th to round out the locals in the top 20.

Bradford Invitational

Cowanesque Valley girls and boys competed at the District IX meet.

Jules Jones (20:23) was third overall while teammate Lilli Hepfer (24:37) took 40th.

Also for the Indians, Claire Miller (25:10) was 43rd, Charly Slusser (26:01) was 50th and Kirstin Crain (26:12) was 52nd.

The top CV boy was George Reynolds (19:01) in 28th while Seth Neal (19:19) was 37th.

Christopher Harris (19:33) was 45th, Joseph Easton (21:06) was 82nd and Ben Anderson (21:14) took 85th.
